South Africa and Namibia are ideal self-drive destinations. For other parts of Africa, we do recommend that self-driving is to be done only be experienced African travellers and preferably in more than one vehicle. If you are self-driving it is vital to lock all the car doors and keep the windows as far up as possible. Plan ahead and know which route you intend to take using a GPS or Google Maps.
